Departure Date

Enter the date you are leaving your home (not the date you depart Australia or arrive in another country) to ensure you have travel insurance cover for your entire trip.

Return Date

Enter the date you return to your home (not the date you depart the country you're visiting or the date on your airline ticket) so you are covered for your whole trip. Double check time zones as it could be a whole day later when you arrive home.

The Country, Countries or Region you are visiting

You'll need to know which countries and / or regions you are travelling to. Countries are grouped into regions to make it simple for you, for example, Worldwide, Europe, Asia, South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. As a bonus, each region covers you for all the lower regions. For example, if you buy an Asia region policy, you'll also have cover for travel in the South Pacific region, New Zealand and Australia.

How old are you today?

The price of your insurance is calculated on the age you are on the day you buy your policy, not your age when you leave your home. If you are having a birthday between now and when you depart, it's a good idea to buy before your birthday as it could work out cheaper.

Fellow traveller's ages

If you are travelling with friends and / or family, you'll need to know their ages today. Prices are calculated on each travellers exact age, so correct ages of all travellers are required to get an accurate travel quote.

What type of trip and activities are you doing?

To get a quote that provides cover for your specific trip, you'll need to know whether you'll be going on a cruise, skiing or snowboarding, hiring a car, doing adventure activities such as snorkelling or riding a motorcycle. This will ensure you can get a quote that provides cover for your specific circumstances.

  • For the Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Domestic Plus and Snow Sports Plus policies; the Trip Cancellation Expenses benefit for cancellation fees and lost deposits starts instantly when your policy is issued. It can be best to buy your policy as early as possible to cover you for Trip Cancellation Expenses should the unexpected occur before you start your trip.
  • For the Frequent Traveller Saver policy, the Trip Cancellation Expenses benefit for cancellation fees and lost deposits starts on the date that you specify on your policy.

The value of insurance may be considered to be worth it when you consider the cost of travel insurance cover, which is most likely to be relatively small compared to the cost of your total holiday. Costs may vary from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands for an unexpected overseas hospital visit depending on various factors. These costs can easily escalate with extended hospital stays and when a medivac is required to bring you back to Australia.  We also provide 24-hour support from the Emergency Assistance team if an emergency occurs.
